We place the rights of residents at the forefront of our philosophy of care and we encourage residents to exercise their rights to the full.
loving care matters To assist residents to achieve their full potential, however small, in respect of their physical, intellectual, emotional and social needs, we provide a range of leisure and recreational activities to suit the tastes and abilities of all residents. Each resident's personal, intellectual, artistic and spiritual values and practices are responded to appropriately respecting his or her religious, ethnic and cultural diversity.
To preserve residents' self respect by treating each resident as a special and valued individual, offering a range of activities that enable residents to express themselves as unique and valued individuals. To maintain residents' status and privacy and help them with any difficulties they may experience with communication, physical functioning, mobility and appearance by use of technical aids as required, and appropriate staff action.
loving care matters
To maintain residents' right to self-determination and to respect their individual behaviour and freedom of choice, subject to the limitations of group living. This includes, offering a wide range of leisure activities from which to choose from and to enable residents to manage their own time and not to dictate set communal timetables.
To respond to residents' individual needs, and enable them to maintain their respect, beliefs and opinions. It is important to foster residents' independence and individuality and we encourage residents to develop personal relationships both within and outside the home. At Woodley Grange we also encourage residents to have independent interaction with others and to care for themselves wherever possible.
To make available a wide range of activities, enabling residents to have a high quality of life, by providing opportunities to go out shopping or visiting, or indeed to bring facilities to the home for the less active. We understand that in a communal setting, it is sometimes hard to enjoy the pleasure of spending time alone and we therefore strive to retain as much privacy as possible for our residents. Residents have a choice of locations in which to enjoy a variety of views and to be alone or with friends. We ensure that the information we hold on residents is kept confidential and that our staff understand the importance of privacy.
Our aim is to provide our residents with a secure, safe and supportive environment. We take safety seriously. For example our homes have an up to date Fire Risk Assessment Report and our staff are trained by the Fire Safety Professionals, so we know exactly what to do in an emergency.
We want our residents to experience a friendly, positive, warm and homely atmosphere.
